Investigation continues in Big Rock Fishing Tourney

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) – The board of directors of a North
Carolina fishing tournament is continuing its investigation of the
boat that may have lost the title and $900,000 in prize money
because a crew member didn’t have a fishing license.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reported the board of the Big
Rock Blue Marlin Tournament said it’s continuing to investigate the
situation involving the boat Citation, which brought in a
record-setting 883-pound marlin on June 14.

The board says it’s contacted the Division of Marine Fisheries
and the state Attorney General’s Office. The question involves
whether a mate on the boat had a recreational fishing license
required by the tournament and the state.

If Citation is stripped of first place, the winning crew would
be Carnivore, which brought in a 528-pound marlin.
