Investigators: Man killed in fire set blaze

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Investigators say the man killed in a house fire in Ogden last month set the blaze himself. The New Hanover County Fire Marshal says 66-year-old Peter Darius used a large amount of flammable liquids to set the fire at 307 Putnam Drive August 15.

Darius was found dead inside the house, which he had lost earlier this year in a foreclosure auction. People who knew Darius said they believed he set the fire after a prolonged battle with his homeowners association.
