‘It Can Wait’ campaign launched at CCFC
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College and AT&T have teamed up to bring a driving simulator to Union Station to launch the “It Can Wait” campaign.
The simulator helps you see how difficult it is to text while driving. You must sit, try to drive and text quickly while staying on course.
Texting while driving is illegal in North Carolina. School bus drivers and drivers under the age of 18 are banned from using cell phones at all.
Each year, more than 100,000 automobile crashes causing life-changing injuries or deaths involve drivers who were texting, according to the National Safety Council.
“This is an excellent opportunity for our students to learn what could happen if they text and drive,” said Cape Fear Community College Vice President John Berry. “Our hope is that this simulated experience will help them to make safer choices and avoid the very real consequences of texting while driving.”
