Italian Festival hosts poker tourney Friday

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — WWAY is proud to be the official TV sponsor for the 2nd Annual Cape Fear Italian Festival. It’s coming up in just a few weeks: September 25 and 26 at the Cross Creek Commons Shopping Center on US 17 in Leland.

Friday night you can help the festival meets its goal of supporting student scholarships at Brunswick Community College by playing poker. The Italian Festival is hosting a Texas Hold’em Tournament Fundraiser at the VFW hall on Village Road in Leland. It’s the second time poker players have anted up to help out.

“The last one that we did we raised almost $2,500 for college scholarships and the festival production, so it was definitely a good thing,” Cape Fear Italian Festival VP Frank Bullara said Tuesday on Good Morning Carolina.

Friday’s poker tournament has a $50 buy-in. In addition to dinner and drinks, you get 5,000 chips plus an extra 500 if you pay in advance. There’s a $1,000 prize pool.
