Jacksonville man accused of stabbing relative to death

JACKSONVILLE, NC (AP) — A Jacksonville man is under arrest for allegedly stabbing a family member to death.

The Jacksonville Daily News reported Saturday that Joshua Cross of Jacksonville has been charged with first-degree murder.

The Jacksonville Police Department spokesman Lt. Ronnie Dorn says officers responded early Saturday to a stabbing at Wellington Place Apartments. The victim pronounced dead at the scene has been identified as 36-year-old Willie Grey.

The 19-year-old Cross was taken into custody following a short chase. Dorn said the victim and suspect are related.

Staff at the Onslow County Detention Center said Sunday they could not confirm whether Cross is in custody or whether he has been assigned a lawyer.
