(WWAY) — JCB Flavors, LLC is voluntarily recalling select topical seasoning products because they may contain Salmonella, a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.

Health officials say healthy people infected with Salmonella can experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can spread and lead to more severe illnesses, including bloodstream infections and other serious complications.

The recall was issued after the company learned a milk powder ingredient used in some of the seasonings was tied to a separate voluntary recall by California Dairies, Inc.. The ingredient was used in certain seasoning products.

According to the company, no illnesses or injuries linked to the recalled products have been reported. Third-party testing of finished products also did not detect contamination. However, the company said it is issuing the recall as a precautionary measure and out of concern for consumer safety.

The affected products were sold in 1.6-ounce retail containers through online retailers and stores nationwide.
