John and Elizabeth Edwards separate

John and Elizabeth Edwards have legally separated. The former presidential candidate admitted to an affair in August 2008 with Rielle Hunter, who was a videographer hired by his campaign.

ABC News cites a source close to Elizabeth Edwards saying the couple separated. The network also says John Edwards is no longer living in the couple’s Chapel Hill home. The former senator has been spotted in the Wilmington area in recent weeks. The Edwards family owns a home on Figure Eight Island.

John Edwards acknowledged for the first time last week that he fathered a child with Hunter.
