Jordan heading to Hall
More than five years after ending one of the greatest careers in basketball history, Michael Jordan is heading to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Jordan’s selection was announced Monday in Detroit, hours before his alma mater UNC beat Michigan State 89-72 for the school’s fifth NCAA national championship.
Jordan is joined in the Hall’s class of 2009 by NBA greats David Robinson and John Stockton, women’s college coach C. Vivian Stringer and Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan.
Jordan started his career at New Hanover County’s Laney High School, going on to become what many people believe is the greatest basketball player of all time.
