Judge Lewis to file for re-election before more cancer treatments

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Superior Court Judge Ola Lewis plans to file for re-election before she returns to the Mayo Clinic next week.

Judge Lewis spent several months at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota receiving treatments for a rare form of liver cancer.

Several prayer vigils have been held for Lewis including one Monday morning in front of the Brunswick County Courthouse.

Lewis will return to the Mayo Clinic on Monday to complete radiation, which she says will take approximately six weeks.

Lewis says the prayer vigils have been a source of encouragement since they started.
