Jury convicts man in crash that severed teen’s ear

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County Jury has convicted a man of felony hit and run for an accident that severed a teen’s ear in 2013.

In July, 2013, police said Michael Anthony Scaturro, Jr, 28, hit a teen who was riding a bicycle. The impact knocked the victim off of his bike. He landed on the pavement, which ended up severing his ear.

Police said Scaturro took off.

The jury sentenced Scaturro to between 67 and 93 months in prison.
