Murder trial set to get underway

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — A man accused of a 2007 murder in Oak Island is scheduled to be back in court today. Joshua Kayne Caudill is on trial for the murder of restaurant owner Phillip Cook. Cook was found beaten to death on his porch in July 2007.

More than a year ago Caudill’s co-defendant James Dean Martin was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison for the murder.

Caudill faces murder, robbery and felony conspiracy charges along with possession and conspiring to traffic methamphetamine charges.

Jury selection is scheduled to start tomorrow.
