Kaine to talk national security in invitation-only Wilmington speech

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine will give what the Hillary Clinton campaign is calling a “major national security speech” when he comes to Wilmington this week.

“Sen. Kaine will underline that Hillary Clinton is the only candidate who has the experience, temperament and judgement to serve as commander in chief and who has the vision to make America safer and stronger together,” the campaign said in a news release Saturday.

Kaine will make the speech Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Hannah Block Historic USO in downtown Wilmington. Due to space constraints, though, the campaign says the event is invitation only and not open to the public.

WWAY plans to attend and stream the speech live here on WWAYTV3.com.

Kaine’s visit to the Port City, which was announced Thursday, comes on the heels of visits to Wilmington in August by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, his running mate Mike Pence and his daughter-in-law Lara Trump, who grew up in Wrightsville Beach.
