Kathleen Turner keynote speaker at Wilmington Planned Parenthood event
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Award winning actress Kathleen Turner will give the keynote address at Hibiscus: Celebrating a Century of Care in Wilmington tonight.
She stopped by WWAY to talk about the fundraiser for Planned Parenthood. Turner has been Chair of the Board of Advocates for over 25 years.
“I think it is essential for the health of the women in our country,” Turner said. “Ninety-seven percent of what we do is health screening, cancer screening, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, contraception. We treat women’s whole health.”
Turner won Golden Globes for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her roles in “Prizzi’s Honor” and “Romancing the Stone.” She’s also received nominations at the Academy Awards, Tony’s and GRAMMYs.
