Kayaker drowns at Holden Beach
HOLDEN BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A California man is dead after drowning this morning at Holden Beach. Police say they got a call of a body in the water at Lockwood Folly Inlet around 10:15 a.m. By the time emergency workers arrived, a group of people was bringing 55-year-old Raymond Joseph Dracker to the shore and started CPR.
Dracker was pronounced dead at the hospital. Investigators say he was kayaking when he was hit by a wave trying to get out into the ocean.
