Kenan Fountain turned off due to leaks, temporary fix planned for Azalea Fest
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Leaks that resulted in high bills caused the City of Wilmington to shut off the Kenan Fountain.
During Monday’s city council agenda briefing, council received an update on the fountain which sits at 5th Avenue and Market Street.
The fountain is old and joints between the hand crafted stones are having problems. Water is also leaking out of the bowls.
The city hired a contractor to put in a temporary seal so the fountain can be turned back on prior to the Azalea Festival.
The work will cost $14,000.
