Kids help design new playground

WILMINGTON — Kids in one Wilmington after-school program are getting a new playground — and they’re the designers.

Kids at the Village at Greenfield resource center drew their dream playgrounds Wednesday. With help from the Home Depot and the non-profit organization Kaboom, one of the playgrounds will become a reality.

Parts of all the drawings will be considered when the playground is built on April 19.

The kids are excited to have a new place to play.

Naulege Johnson, who helped draw the dream playground, said, “We had to create a playground, just a design for our playground. I drew a slide, some monkey bars and a swing set.”

Volunteers are needed to help build the new playground on April 19. For more information on how you can help contact Robin Colbert at 910-772-9889 or robin@ciscapefear.org.
