Kitchen Cops 8/28/08
There is just one low performer in this week’s Kitchen Cops report.
Workers at Penders Café in Downtown Wilmington need to use paper towels instead of cloth towels to dry their hands. Points off for lettuce on a drain rack and potatoes in the dining room. And a cooler was holding foods at too warm a temperature. 83 for Penders Café.
Three New Hanover County restaurants scored well with health inspectors.
The highest score belongs to the Port City Chop House on Eastwood Road. A half point off because shelving in the reach-in coolers is rusting and needs replacing and an ice machine needs cleaning. Add back a two-point bonus for workers passing a food safety course and a score 101.5.
Scoop Ice Cream & Sandwich on Front Street lost half a point because a thermometer in a cooler needs to be replaced. And the same score of 99.5 goes to Bottega Art and Wine just down the street. Just a half point off for because cups need to be stored in a plastic sleeve or dispenser to protect them.
