Kure Beach drowning victim identified

MEBANE, NC (Myfox8.com) — Friday night games won’t be the same at Eastern High School in Alamance County without a longtime team photographer who drowned earlier this week.

George Chockley, 63, was vacationing at Kure Beach Wednesday when he had to be pulled from the water. Police said he drowned.

Chockley began taking pictures at football games in 2000. Some of those pictures ended up in the Mebane Enterprise but all of them were burned onto a CD and given to the head coach.
