Kure Beach mulls political sign restrictions

KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — How long should you be able to put a campaign sign in your yard? That’s a question Kure Beach’s Town Council will get feedback on tonight.

The town has scheduled a public hearing on a proposed ordinance change to add some restrictions.

Current town code does not specify how long a resident may put a political sign up. But under the proposal, signs would be allowed only from 17 days before an election to five days after an election or after a candidate ends their run, whichever happens first. It would also prohibit political signs from any publicly owned property, though signs would still be allowed within 100 yards of town hall or other polling places 24 hours before an election.

Kure Beach Town Council meets at 6 p.m.
