Kure Beach to vote on updated use of force police policy

KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The police department in Kure Beach is looking to update their use of force options at next Monday’s council meeting.

The policy says all responses must be reasonable and necessary.

It also states all officers are “expected and required to maintain control or to intervene if the response to a subject’s resistance or aggression clearly becomes excessive.”

It goes on to outline the options of responses available to officers to stop any aggression they may encounter.

Town council will vote to either approve or not approve the policy update at the meeting.
