Lake Waccamaw: System pressure advisory

LAKE WACCAMAW, NC (WWAY) — Water consumers in Lake Waccamaw Water System are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages due to a repair.

According to a release, crews are working on a necessary repair along the 2600 block of Canal Cove Road. Periods of low pressure can increase the possibility of back siphonage and bring bacteria into the system.

The Division of Water Resources is advising when water is restored that people boil water for consumption (i.e. drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, food prep, etc.) or to use bottled water.

The advisory applies to residents from the 2600 block of Canal Cove Road and includes all of Waccamaw Shores. It does NOT include the Wooded Acres subdivision.

Boiling water for one minute should kill any bacteria or disease causing organisms in the water.

The advisory will remain in effect until written notice is issued.
