HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — Drivers in Hampstead can expect intermittent lane closures on N.C. 210 beginning next week as construction continues on a new Pender County K-8 school.

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, contract crews will begin work July 20 to widen a section of N.C. 210 near U.S. 17 and add new turn lanes to improve access to the future school.

The project also includes installing a new drainage pipe system beneath N.C. 210.

Lane closures are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and are expected to continue through early November, weather permitting.

Transportation officials are encouraging motorists to use caution when traveling through the work zone and consider alternate routes to avoid delays.
