Lanes reduced on CFM bridge due to icy conditions

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police say the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will be reduced to one lane in both directions due to icing on the bridge’s metal span that’s caused several crashes.

Police say the lane reduction could remain in place throughout the night. A police officer will be stationed on both sides of the bridge.

There have been a total of eight traffic incidents on the bridge today, with ice being a contributing factor.
