Lanes temporarily closing on Shipyard Boulevard

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — If your usual route includes a drive along Shipyard Boulevard between Long Street Drive and Pine Valley Drive you may have to deal with a little more traffic next week.

A lane in each direction will close starting Monday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The Department of Transportation is closing lanes to provide a safe area for the City of Wilmington to install a treatment system for stormwater coming off Shipyard Boulevard.

“NCDOT is working in conjunction with the City of Wilmington and North Carolina State University to improve the quality of this water,” said Division 3 Traffic Engineer Jessi Leonard.  “The work doesn’t require detours, but motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid possible delays.”

The closure will last until April 14.
