Last minute preparations

Some folks spent the day making some last minute preparations for Hanna’s arrival.

Whether it was to hunker down, or get out of town, today was about stocking up and packing up.

As Hanna rolled in, shoppers rolled out; picking out some last minute storm essentials.

“Batteries, flashlight, ice, a manual can opener and bread. Everybody has to have bread for a storm for some reason, said Deborah Branahan.

From bottled water and snacks to more important items, residents say their priority is to be prepared for what Hanna might bring.

Angela Reynolds said, “Canned goods of course and also, medication you have to make sure you get your medication because you may be without power for about four or five days.”

“We’re just getting a few little things that we may need like propane fuel for the camping stove and ice and things like that incase we lost power,” said Eddie Reynolds.

One family at the Royal Palms Mobile Home Park isn’t stocking up, they’re packing up.

“I’m getting water ready and clothes and toothbrush and everything,” said Mary Uvalle.

Mary and her family are headed to Jacksonville to stay with Mary’s sister in law.

“She called and said for us to go over there. It’s safer over there. Her house is more…its a big home and its not like a trailer,” said Mary.

“We’re taking clothes and food and all that – and the Playstation,” said Uvalle.

Whatever it takes to weather the storm!
