Lejeune to add civilian police
CAMP LEJEUNE (AP) — Civilian police officers could one day supplement military police at Camp Lejeune.
That plan comes after a Marine Corps committee decided more security is needed at Marine installations.
A base spokesman says the base probably won’t start adding the civilian officers for another three years.
The base says in a statement that the Marine Corps concluded MPs needed supplementing at bases, air stations and elsewhere.
Planning is expected to start next year.
