Leland ALDI opens to big crowd

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The third ALDI in the Cape Fear opened its doors this morning and saw quite the turnout.

After the ribbon cutting, customers toured the store, sampled products and entered to win a year’s supply of ALDI produce.

The store gave away free samples of cheese, crackers, wine and other products, as well as free eco-friendly bags.

ALDI Leland Regional Manager Grace Gaylord says she is excited to be a part of the event.

“We’re super excited to be in Leland, we’re opening stores rapidly across the US and super excited to be on the East Coast, so today here in Leland, like every opening the first 100 customers get a gift card in increments anywhere from 10 to 100 dollars,” Gaylord said. “So our first customer was actually here at 5:30 in the morning which is pretty typical for us to have someone out here that early, so that’s really exciting to see that excitement from the customers.”

The new ALDI is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is located on Ploof Road.
