Leland continues work to dismiss fired officer’s lawsuit

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Leland is moving forward with dismissing claims of a former police officer who says leaders fired him improperly.

John Blasingame is suing the town because he says when he was fired in 2012, the town did not follow its own personnel policy.

Back in December a judge dismissed two of Blasingame’s three claims.

Leland’s attorney says the town has until March 16 to file the final motion to dismiss the case. The town anticipates the motion for dismissal will be granted.
