Leland Fire and Rescue holds live burn training
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — If you saw fire crews and lots of smoke on Village Road Saturday, don’t be alarmed, it was just a training exercise.
Leland Fire and Rescue hosted a live burn training throughout the morning. The home being burned was one of three homes donated by a church that plans to develop the land.
Battalion Chief Brandyn Smith said the burns can inconvenience the neighbors, but are extremely helpful for the firefighters.
“It puts them up close and personal with the fire and gives them the opportunity to train in the event of a real emergency,” Smith said.
Crews from other area departments were also on scene.
