LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Leland Fire Department will conduct live fire training Saturday near Blackwell Road and Chappell Loop Road.

The training will take place May 16 at 10241 Blackwell Road SE near the northern intersection of Blackwell Road and Chappell Loop Road.

It is expected to begin around 8 a.m. and end around 5 p.m.

Blackwell Road and Chappell Loop Road will remain open during the training, but drivers may experience minor delays.

Drivers are urged to use caution because smoke and fire apparatus will be in the area throughout the exercise.

The training is part of the Leland Fire Department’s ongoing efforts to maintain emergency response readiness.

The town’s permanent ban on open burning for land-clearing purposes remains in effect. Town officials say that ban is separate from live fire training conducted by the Fire Department.
