Leland man charged in beer bottle stabbing

LELAND, NC (WWAY) – A Leland man is accused of stabbing someone with a broken beer bottle.

Police say yesterday they received a call that someone had been stabbed on Basin Street. When police arrived they found a man who had been stabbed in his stomach with the broken beer bottle.

During the investigation, detectives arrested Juan Garcia-Rayo, 45. He’s charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Police say the victim’s injuries are severe but are non-life threatening.

Garcia-Rayo is in the Brunswick County jail under a $150,000 bond.
