Leland man held on $3 million bond for child pornography
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Leland man was taken into custody on Cottagefield Lane this morning, after a joint investigation between the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and ICE Homeland Security Investigations.
According to arrest warrants, Michael Hunter Cook, 34, had sexually explicit pictures of a 2-year-old and 6-year-old. The victims are unknown.
Cook is charged with two counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor, possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says more charged are likely as the investigation continues.
Cook is being held on a $3 million secured bond.
If Cook makes bail, he will be required to provide fingerprints and a DNA sample. He will also be under GPS, must surrender all passports and not leave Brunswick County without the court’s permission. He’s also ordered to not have any contact with the victims or anyone under the age of 18.
