Leland man wanted for allegedly hitting bicyclist
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are looking for the man who is accused of hitting a bicyclist on South Kerr Avenue Wednesday.
Police say Daquan Maurice Dailey, 25, hit a woman riding her bike while trying to turn south in the 100 block of South Kerr Avenue in Wilmington.
The victim, a Wilmington woman, was traveling north on the sidewalk against traffic when the crash happened, WPD says. Dailey then reportedly got out the vehicle, asked if she was okay and gave her a hug before leaving the scene without providing information.
WPD says the victim suffered minor injuries, and there was damage to the bicycle.
Dailey is charged with misdemeanor hit and run leaving the scene with property damage and operating a vehicle without a license.
According to police, although the victim violated traffic laws by traveling on the wrong side of the road and into traffic, she will not face any charges.
