Leland PD warns of phone scam; caller asks for DWI bail money

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland Police have received reports of citizens receiving scam phone calls.

Police say the caller states a family member has been arrested for driving while impaired and bail needs to be posted.

The caller then goes on to state that they are a prosecutor and will be very discrete with the information if payment is made over the phone to an account the caller provides.
