Leland woman pleads guilty in home break-ins, shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A woman will spend the next four to six years in prison following guilty pleas in crimes in New Hanover County.

Kimberly Mayhew pleaded guilty yesterday to charges including discharging a firearm into occupied property, 44 counts of breaking and entering and 41 larcenies. In addition to the prison sentence, she was given a supervised sentence and ordered to pay more than $113,000 in restitution to the victims.

Mayhew was linked to several home invasions in New Hanover County and a shooting in the Kings Grant neighborhood in November of 2014. Her co-defendants, James Smallwood, Eric Howard, and Joseph Howard, have not gone to trial. She is also supposed to testify against them as part of the plea deal.
