Leland’s Night Out against crime
Communities across the country, and right here in our area, gathered Tuesday night to take part in the 26th Annual National Night Out. One of the local events was in Leland.
There were activities for the kids along with demonstrations and information provided by law enforcement.
National Night Out aims to raise awareness about keeping communities safe in the fight against crime and drugs. “National Night Out means our community belongs to us and it’s a strong message to people who are in your community doing the wrong thing that we’re going to be here and we’re going to make sure this is a safe place to live,” said Leland Police Chief Tim Jayne.
Thirty-four million people across the country were expected to participate in America’s Night Out Against Crime.
