Leland gas station turning into lucky lottery spot
LELAND — A Leland gas station is starting to get the nickname “lucky lottery spot” after multiple wins in a matter of months.
This week a Navassa woman won more than $212,000 at the Pop Shoppe off Village Road in Leland in the Carolina Cash Five lottery.
This is the second Brunswick County resident to win at least $200,000 this month.
A North Carolina Education Lottery spokesperson says the county seems to be on a roll, and Pop Shoppe employees say their store seems to be especially lucky.
Pop Shoppe employee Elaine Klutz said, “I think it’s pretty lucky. We’ve had a $1,000 win, $10,000 win and $212,000 win, so I’d say that’s pretty lucky.”
In December another Brunswick County resident won big and scored more than $730,000 in the Carolina Cash Five game as well. That winner lived in Southport.
