Leland man charged with attempted murder

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A Leland man is in jail charged with attempted murder, robbery and assault in Carolina Beach.

Police also say David Lloyd gave officers a fake name when they arrested him. Investigators say he attacked a 33-year-old New York woman July 26 near the north end pier. She managed to break free and called 911.

The woman later identified Lloyd from a photo lineup.
