Leland Town Council opposes free wireless internet
LELAND — There’s a push in the state legislature to stop cities from providing free wireless internet for residents.
Thursday night the Leland Town Council passed a resolution, formally opposing House bill 1587.
Leland Council members don’t yet have plans to provide free wireless internet throughout the town. But some of them would like to keep that option for the future.
Other local cities, including Wilmington, already have internet bubbles where folks with wireless cards can log onto the internet, free of charge.
