Leland’s Trunk or Treat celebrates 10 years
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Halloween is right around the corner and here’s a fun event happening this weekend for the whole family.
The Town of Leland will hold its 10th annual Trunk or Treat event on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Leland Municipal Park (113 Town Hall Drive).
This free event provides families with an alternative to traditional Trick or Treating and is one of the Town’s most popular, drawing several thousand children and parents.
Area businesses and community organizations join in the fun by decorating vehicles and passing out treats from their “tricked out” trunks.
The Great Pumpkin Decorating Contest returns this year for those folks with creative carving and pumpkin decorating skills.
Pumpkins must be real, decorations and carving must be complete, and free online registration must be completed prior to the event. Prizes will be awarded for Spookiest, Funniest, Best NC Theme, Most Artistic, and Best In Show categories. Participants are asked to express their creativity, and keep decorations family-friendly.
“Trunk or Treating” and the Pumpkin Contest will begin at 4:00 p.m. and end promptly at 6:00 p.m. There is no fee to participate. Free parking will be available at Town Hall lots. The Leland Police and Fire/Rescue departments will be on site for additional safety and fun.
