BCSO: Employee’s car not shot while on campus; school still keeps outdoor activity paused for now

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Lincoln Elementary School has paused outdoor activities after a bullet hole was discovered in the hood of an employee’s vehicle.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says an initial investigation on Wednesday determined the vehicle was shot at the person’s home — not at school.

The sheriff’s office says the employee doesn’t live near the school. They also believe the vehicle had been shot from a “considerable distance away.” BCSO is still investigating.

While the students are not at any threat, the school will utilize areas like the gym or interior courtyards for physical activities until the investigation is complete.

In November, a 6-year-old student was hit by a bullet while out on the playground.
