Lincoln Elementary School students learn healthy eating and living
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Tuesday, Lincoln Elementary School students had an interactive lesson on healthy eating and living.
Researchers from NC A&T State University developed a 1,200 square foot exhibit to show kids how the foods they eat affect their bodies.
The exhibit is called Speedway to Healthy. Students played the role of foods as they traveled through 11 “pit stops” representing different places in the body.
William Rhein, a Lincoln Elementary School third grader, says he learned a lot from the exhibit.
“The one that’s right behind me is the mouth. We learned about the teeth and that you should floss and brush. And we learned that if you don’t do that they won’t turn out all pretty and white,” said Rhein.
The exhibit will be open to the public on Thursday evening from 4 pm to 7 pm. It takes about two hours to get through all the “pit stops”. It’s also free to attend.
