Lincoln Elementary shelters in place after report of suspicious person

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Lincoln Elementary School in Leland sheltered in place for a short time this morning, according to Brunswick County Schools spokeswoman Jessica Swencki.

Swencki said the school sheltered in place at the request of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office while deputies investigated reports of a suspicious person in the area. Swencki said classes went on as normal inside the school. She said parents were notified of the situation.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
