Local charter buses head south to help with Irma evacuations
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — From Florida to Georgia, people who need to evacuate from the path of Hurricane Irma are getting some help from a company here in the Cape Fear.
Cape Fear Coach Lines sent four drivers and buses down to help with emergency evacuations.
The buses are full of supplies, water, food and tools.
These drivers are heading to South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida for the next two weeks.
The president of Cape Fear Transportation says he is happy to help, but this will be something his folks are not used to.
“It will be pretty interesting, ya know you never know what it is going to be like you never know what direction the storms going to go flooding winds anything like that. So we’re prepared, the drivers are trained we have everything we need and will hope for the best,” Michael Faulkner said.
They won’t know their exact driving assignments and destinations until they arrive in South Carolina.
