Local chef to compete in statewide cooking competition

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The head chef at Michael’s Seafood is heading to Raleigh tomorrow to compete in a statewide cooking competition.

The annual ‘Good to be NC’ competition uses all North Carolina raised or farmed ingredients in a four round ‘blind’ competition.

The chefs will be asked to feature a secret ingredient in each round that they will be unaware of before the round begins.

Chef Brandon Stark said he is humbled to be invited.

“To be invited to this competition is an honor,” he said. “You know, I get to compete with chefs of equal caliber to what every other chef does.”

Tomorrow is the first round of the competition. If Stark wins, he will compete again later this month.
