Local elementary school students raise money for Harvey victims
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — We’ve been seeing all week how people across the country have been pitching in to help out those affected by the catastrophic flooding in Texas.
Some students at a New Hanover County elementary school got in on the caring.
The student council at Anderson Elementary organized a ‘Hats for Houston’ fundraiser to benefit victims of Hurricane Harvey.
With only one day of preparation, they were able to raise more than $800.
The money will go to Monahan Elementary School in Houston.
New Hanover County Schools central office staff supported Anderson’s efforts.
