Wilmington woman who was on flight 1549 reacts to ‘Sully’
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington woman who was on the infamous flight 1549 traveled back to New York this week for a preview screening of the new film ‘Sully.’
“When the plane came to a stop it just groaned like it just made this sound,” said Pam Seagle.
Seagle watched the film with other passengers and emergency responders. She said watching the new Tom Hanks movie took her back to the day Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger landed her flight on the Hudson River.
“The attention to detail was really incredible when you get into a Hollywood type of production,” Seagle said.
She said hearing those moments replayed on the big screen was what touched her most.
“The sounds were the thing that really got me. The sound of the geese hitting sounded like that. The metal groaning. The water landing. All of those, the sound was really realistic,” Seagle said.
And although she was not mentioned by name in the film, she said the real life passengers were represented well.
“The people sitting in the seats looked like the people who were truly sitting in those seats,” Seagle said.
She said the film gives an interesting perspective on what Captain Sully went through after all the excitement of the water landing died down.
