Local teen gets Make-a-Wish trip
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A local teen and his family are going to Disney World thanks to Make-a-Wish.
Doctor’s say 13-year-old Elijah has a life threatening illness.
His wish is to go to Disney World, and his wish has been granted.
Make-a-Wish threw a wish granting party for Elijah Thursday night at Jungle Rapids in Wilmington.
Members of the Wilmington Police Department and Wilmington Fire Department also came by to celebrate.
“This is a great opportunity for him to be out here at jungle rapids, because it just amps him up for the actual trip,” said Glenn Rushdan, Elijah’s brother.
“The people in this community have done an amazing job to make Elijah’s wish come true, and Make-a-Wish nationally is amazing,” said Clark Shay, a Make-a-Wish volunteer.
The family leaves for the trip in August.
Shay adds that if anyone in the community is looking to get involved with a charity, Make-a-Wish is a great one to pick.
