Local artists show off original work at Art for the Masses
One Wilmington building was transformed into a large art museum over the weekend.
The Eighth Annual Art for the Masses was held at the new Bank of America building downtown. More than two hundred local artists filled four floors of the building with collections of their original work. The goal of the event: to support local artists, as well as expose the public to different styles of art.
Art for the Masses coordinator Jenni Harris said, “With two hundred artists, you kind of see what you like and don’t like. So if you’re not familiar with art, I’m an art fanatic, but the people who aren’t familiar with art, they can sort of pick and choose and learn what they do like and don’t like. So then when they go to galleries or art shows they know what they like and don’t like.”
This year’s event drew more artists and people than ever before, with many folks leaving with a piece of art for their home.
