Local charities benefit from Fashion Victims Ball

You may have seen the rather humorous images from the 2008 Fashion Victims Ball in December. The event was co-sponsored by Keller Williams Realty and WWAY.

Today was the day to hand over the proceeds to six local charities. They split more than $3,500. The charities helped were the Community Boys and Girls Club, breast cancer awareness, Carolina Canines, Project Linus, Ronald McDonald House, and Habitat for Humanity.

“It means a lot. It is not just the gift, it’s these kinds of things – having people know what we do and know about the generosity of our community and all the challenges we have out there. But Wilmington is a really generous community and this is just an example of that,” said Habitat for Humanity’s Kitty Yerkes.
